Hunting

Hunters often have a certain mistrust of wind power since the wind parks are quite often erected right in the middle of the landscape in order to keep them at a distance from inhabited areas. Since hunting is one of the oldest forms of utilising nature, the hunter´s fears can on the one side be understood but on the other side they are without foundation.

Practical experience and scientific research shows that a wind park has almost no influence on the surrounding fauna. The only one who subjectively may feel disturbed is the hunter himself.

There is however little knowledge about the effect of wind turbines on the black grouse which can be found at the wind park site. Therefore a detailed research study will be carried out in which the effects the wind park have on bird life (especially on the black grouse) and game (deer, stags, gams, etc) will be analysed.

In co-operation with Land Styria, hunters and other organisations the Tauernwind GmbH wants to provide a qualified basis for future wind energy projects by carrying out research work and documentation of the project. This should help to take the emotional tone out of the discussion about wind energy.
