Assembling of the wind turbines was not going
according to schedule due to delivery delays on the part of the
manufacturer. But then on Sept. 23rd the first nacelle was installed.
In spite of snowfall, the wind turbine went into
operation on Friday, Sept. 27th and this meant that over 100 MW
of wind power capacity had been installed in Austria.
On October 7th a second Vestas team would join
the crew to make sure that the turbines would go into operation
as soon as they were ready. As the snow showed, winter is just around
the corner at 1,900 meters above sea level.
The nacelle weighs 57 tones and has to be
lifted with a 800 ton crane.
