Architect Competition

Basics
1st - 3rd Prize
4th - 6th Prize
Place 7 to 18

1st to 3rd Prize

First Place Prize = Project No. 10

Arch.-DI Titus Pernthaler
Opernring 16
A-8010 Graz

His plan calls for the complete reconstruction of the Hütte based on the form of a rotor blade. The project is not only aesthetic but from all the projects submitted, it best fulfils the requirements for function, flexibility and intelligent room organisation. The rooms are designed to be compact and are optimal for accommodation of all the technology and equipment which is needed for operation of the visitors center and restaurant. Another strength of the project is that the size of the building can be enlarged or reduced thanks to a module building system.

Second Place Prize = Project No. 1

Arch.-DI Wolfgang Schwarzenbacher
Parkstrasse 18/1
A-5020 Salzburg

He "covers" and unites the Klosterneuburger Hütte and the addition on the side with a large, curved roof. The building structure on the side has a glass wall looking to the wind park which permits the visual connection between the exhibition rooms and the wind turbines. Strength in the design lies in a sensitive relationship between inside and outside which is given due to the openness of the building and a ramp leading to the outside area. The competition requirement for a multifunctional building is met but due to the closed composition of the building, the requirement for easy enlargement cannot be fulfilled.

Third Place Prize = Project No. 12

Arch.-DI Georg Giebeler
Schanzenstrasse 21
D-51063 Köln

His design shows a new building smuggled in the side of the mountain which resembled a wind turbine rotor blade. The building is so sensitively set into the landscape that it becomes one with its surroundings. View of the Klosterneuburger Hütte is not impaired and the Hütte loses its new building additions to be only used for living space.
