Power Supply

The data logger for the 10 m wind measurements was powered by batteries.

A photovoltaic system was installed from 24 July 1999 to 29 September 1999 to power the measuring equipment on the 50 m met mast. A diesel generator was used to power the SODAR measuring system.

After termination of the SODAR measurements, the system on the 50 m met mast was powered by the diesel generator and the photovoltaic system. The two power systems complimented each other since in winter there was an increased energy need for heating the anemometers and this couldn´t be decked by the solar system alone.

In February 2000 a small wind turbine with a power capacity of 240 Watt was installed to replace the diesel generator which had been malfunctioning.
